Abstract
Competition usually drives innovation. For data provision, however, competition can achieve the opposite. By sharing product related environmental performance information via an open data network, the development of LCA and design tools as well as the data provision by manufacturers becomes effective and affordable. Generic data from public databases is available within the same data pool as 3rd party verified product specific data (EPD) – in a consistent approach. In our session, we are going to show how this industry wide approach helps create added value for manufacturers as well as for architects and planners performing building LCAs.
